FHSR PROGRAMMING
The Foundation for Hearing and Speech Resources (FHSR) began in the 1950s as a group of parents and professionals seeking to help deaf adults and children. FHSR is an indispensable voice and source of services in Illinois for children who are living with hearing loss. FHSR offers programs to meet the educational, clinical, and social needs of our children, including education coordination services for children with cochlear implants; loaner hearing aid programs; literacy programs; music education initiatives; advocacy and awareness-raising efforts. The overarching goal of the programs FHSR creates and funds are to level the playing field for children living with hearing loss so they have the same opportunities as their hearing peers.
MUSIC TO MY EARS (MTME) SCHOLARSHIP
The Music To My Ears Scholarship Program allows children with hearing loss to attend weekly music enrichment classes and experience the joy of music with their caregivers and hearing peers.
The scholarship will provide one year of tuition-free music classes for children up to 12 who are deaf/hard of hearing and living in the Chicagoland area.
A $900 donation will sponsor a year of classes for one deaf/hard of hearing child. This amount will allow a child who might not otherwise be able to afford weekly music classes experience the joy of music with their hearing peers.
